Canvas for Laurie

OMG!!! I have been super busy. LOL That seems to be my excuse for a lot of things lately. I have managed to complete a project for my sister though.

Here is a canvas that I created for her. She will be giving it to a very close friend of hers. I am hoping that Pam will like it.

It is a little scary creating something that you know may be hanging on someones wall. You have those thoughts of OMG!!! What if she doesn't like it and it ends up in the back of a remote closet. Hopefully this won't happen and if it does....I hope I never find out. LOL

Thanks for looking and hopefully after my accounting final is done I will have a little more time on my hands. I am hoping to have my CTMH club project done in the next couple of days and will post a sneek peak. That is if everything goes as planned. LOL For those who know me well...very little in my life goes as planned.

Seriously...I just proof read this post and how many times can one person use the words hopefully, hope and hoping......I am really hoping for a lot this week.....I need to find some different descriptive words.....increase the old vocabulary...LOL....maybe I should invest in a thesaurus. Is that how you spell it??

FYI if you are wondering what My Person means it is like saying best friends just in a different way.

Caden's Baby Shower

Last year Calvin and I hosted a baby shower for our God Child Caden. I had a lot of fun planning and throwing the party.

This is the diaper cake that I made. They are very easy to make but are a little pricy but well worth the price and I would definitly do it again. I found the instructions on U tube. There are dozens of different videos on how to create them.

This picture is of a memory game we played. I purchased a few baby items and had Colleen and Ross bring a few. As you can see I arranged them on a cookies sheet. Then I had my lovely daughter McKenzie walk around with tray. Everyone had a quick look and had to write down what they remembered was on the tray. I only gave them a couple of minutes to write everything down. I had a prize to give to the winner. I didn't take pics of the prizes but if I remember correctly this one was some candles I purchased at the dollar store. I wrapped them up nicely in a basket and some cellophane.

These baggies are the props for the next game we played. It is basically a feely game. I put a bunch of different baby items in the bags and they had to feel around the bag, without opening it, and try and guess what was in the bag. They had to write down what they thought was in the bag. I had Colleen open all the bags and show everyone what was in them and then the person with the most write answers got the prize. I think this prize was some bath stuff wrapped up in a basket and some cellophane.

Here is a picture of part of the food table. I had tonnes of different h'ord'oeuvres, dips, cup cakes, fruit and veggies. It is not all on the table. This picture was taken before the party started.

These are the thank you bags I made for everyone to take home. I put a few candies and a scented T light candle in each bag. I wrapped the candle in some cellophane and tied it with a small ribbon.

And finally here is a pic of the gracious host and hostess. LOL Calvin and I.

It was a great day and I think fun was had by all.

What Have I Been Up To?

Hello All,

I apologize for my absence. I have been incredibly busy. LOL What else is new.

So, what have I been up to you ask?? Well, Scrap - A - Palooza, for one. Our all day crop was a hit yet once again. We had prizes for everyone. We are looking forward to the next one. Not till next year though. Unfortunately I have no pictures to share with you. :0( If you can believe it I fogot my camera. Luckily Tami had hers there, but of course I don't have the pictures. I will have to see about getting them from her.

I have also started an accounting course. Crazy I know. Like I don't have enough to do. LOL I just recently wrote my mid term. Hopefully I did well. They are making me wait 2 weeks for my marks. That is a long time to wait.

Let's see, I have also started teaching a monthly calendar class at Paper Trails. You can click the link on the side bar. Debbie might have some pics of the classes posted.

Of course I also have CTMH club. I have a great bunch of ladies this year. I am looking forward to our next gathering. I have a sneak peak of the project we will be doing. I have used the Veranda paper and the Authentic stamp set. Both are CTMH products of course. I love these little Flip Flap Albums. I am thinking I may have to make a few of these for the Western Development Museum this year. They are quick and easy.

12 Month Calendar Workshop

I am happy to annouce that I will be teaching a 12 month workshop at Paper Trails. I am sooo excited. Once a month we will be creating a double page calendar layout. I am having some technical difficulties so I can't post the picture of January's page. But if you click the Paper Trails link on the side you will be able to see the picture and the details.

The first workshop will be held on February 28th and we will be doing both January and February's pages. We will meet at Paper Trails at 1pm.

Debbie has an incredible price on this workshop and a great discount on 12x12 albums (only for those who sign up for the workshop). The cost of the workshop is $105. That works out to $8.75 / double layout. OMG!!!!! You will have a complete 25 page album complete by November.

I AM VICTORIOUS!!!!!!!

Ok, to start the story off do you remember the saying "When the cat's away the mice will play" Well, this week nothing has ever been closer to the truth. LOL

My hubby is in the "far north", Pachinak (is that how you spell it??) to be more specific. He left on Monday of this week and won't be home until the weekend of the 18th.

Monday after work I discovered a bag of chocolate that had a hole chewen in it and yes something had been nibbeling at the chocolate inside. Upon further investigation I found overwhelming evidence that we definitely, most postively had a mouse. :0

That evening I called Calvin's mom and dad and they lent me a trap. I also asked my wonderful father-in-law if he would come and dispose of the mouse for me. So, Tuesday afternoon I set my first trap. I decided that peanut butter was the bate I was going to use. The first mistake I made was after putting the peanut butter on the 'used' trap I absent mindedly put the knife back in the peanut butter jar. Yep I sure did. So, an entire 1kg jar of crunchy peanut butter is now garbage. I didn't want to dispose of it until after I caught the mouse so my very clever daughter decided it would be our best interest to label the jar.

I finally got the mouse trap set. I was very proud of myself. It was my first mouse trap.

I have to say that I was secretly hoping that I didn't catch a mouse. I know that they are dirty rodents but in their own way they are cute little critters.

Ok so, Tuesday night I came home after work and checked the trap and the wiley little mouse managed to eat the peanut butter but not set off the trap. So, I use the 'Mouse Only' peanut butter and reset the trap. We went about our business as usual. The next morning I check the trap and the damn thing ate the peanut butter again and didn't set off the trap. I am thinking sheesh!!! This is a really sneaky mouse. So, of course I set the trap again. Go off to work and come back at lunch and AGAIN he eats the peanut butter and manages not to set off the trap.

I must say that I am getting a little annoyed. The next morning, it is Wednesday now, the peanut butter is gone and I still have no mouse. That night I check the trap and yes once again he has managed to eat the peanut butter and escape. Now I am on a mission and I set the trap again. I even set it off to make sure it is working.

The kids and I eat supper and Cody proceeds to tell me that he heard the mouse in the walls last night. I am thinkg holy @#$%!! this can't be good.

Thursday morning I check the trap and, my god, the damn thing did it again. Now, I am seriously not a happy camper. I told my coworkers about my mouse wooows thinking they may have some advise. Well, they do and then they tell me all these mouse horror stories about infestations and exterminators and babies and the reproduction rate of these nasty things.

I am little nervous now thinking I may have to take some drastic measures. Thursday at lunch the peanut butter is gone and I still have not mouse. Thursday and supper time the peanut butter is gone and I Still Have No Mouse.

By now I am thinking I must be the worst mouse hunter on the planet. I mean can anyone set a trap 6 times and not catch a mouse. Really?? Are they that smart???

Friday morning I check the trap again and yes I am not joking the peanut butter is gone and I STILL HAVE NO MOUSE!!!!!!!!! Friday at lunch (I can't believe I am being out smarted by a mouse) the peanut butter is gone and no mouse. You must be thinking by now, can any one have this much bad luck?? Well, I can. Cause I came home after work and the peanut butter is gone and I have no mouse.

So, I thought I will fix that mouse. I put a tone of peanut butter in the trap and on the trap. There was peanut butter everywhere. Kenzie and I went to Paper Trails for the late night crop and I came home and ...........

But now I have a serious problem. I can't call my in-laws because it is too late and I have to dispose of the mouse myself. I don't think I have ever missed Calvin so much. The worst part was I couldn't even phone him. (no cell service in the 'far north') I have to thank one of my BFF's Tammy for talking me through it. I don't think I could have done it wthout her. I am such a suck. That was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I felt so bad for the little guy.

I have reset the trap and I am seriously hoping that was the one and only mouse. Does it get easier??

So, yes when MY HUBBY is away the mice will play.

Aspen 6 x 6 Accordian Album

This past year I had an amazing group of ladies in my stamping club. I couldn't close our year with out giving them a little Christmas present.


Part of their gift was creating a 6 x 6 accordian album using the Aspen paper from CTMH.

OMG....Where have I been?????

Well, I have not been very good blogger lately. Actually I have been a terrible blogger. But the new year is apon us and I have made a promise to me to take the time to update this thingy at least once a week. Or at least I am going to try my very hardest. LOL

Ok, what is new. Well....Ummmm.....There is a lot that is new but I will start with the most exciting news....I have finally completed my Scrap'n Room or should I say Studio. My wonderful husband took me on a shopping spree for Christmas. AHHHHHH!!!! I am not kidding. Yes, Calvin took me to Michaels and spent about an hour in there with me while I tried to decide which of the modular storage units I needed to complete my room. Now, for those of you who know me, you know this is an amazing feat for my dear hubby. Micheals and the scrapbooking stores are not his favorite places in the world. He is more of a Princess Auto, Canadian Tire, Visions kind of guy. Yes, I am the luckiest woman in Saskatoon. LOL Or at least I think I am.

Ok, enough prattling on. Here are the pics of my new room.

Ok, now I remember why it takes me so long to update my blog. It takes a month of Sundays to upload the pictures. There must be an easier way. :0)

You've Got Flair

This is the project idea I came up with for the July Stamp of the Month. It is the same wall hanging we made for Becca's birthday party but I changed the papers and the layout of the project. The papers are Magic Moments and of course the You've Got Flair stamp set. I embossed all of the images with white embossing powders.

First Calander Page

Hey all, well I finally got some new pages done and they are 12 x 12. It has been ages since I have actually completed a 12 x 12. It wasn't hard with this one. My inspiration came from one of nephews. I mean look at him. Who wouldn't be inspired by that cute face.

I used Emporium and the Refelctions book for the layout idea. Hope you all enjoy

Becca's Birthday

Holy smokes. It has been a long time since I have posted anything. I thought that once spring was over life would slow down. Yeah, not likely. I have been busier than ever. I don't know where the time goes, but it is definitely moving by fast. LOL

Ok, I will get on with it. One of my last posts was of the invitation I made for my niece Becca's birthday party. I came up with the idea for the project that Becca and her friends would do at the party and Laurie (my little sis) designed the project. She did a fabulous job. The girls loved it and they went home with a wonderful keep sake. Darren (my bro-in-law) even took pictures of the girls with and printed them for us, so, all of the projects were complete with pictures. Whoot!!! Whoot!!!

Here is a close up of one of the girls projects. I think they all did a great job. Laurie had the chipboard covered and all the pieces cut for the projects. We let the girls put the entire thing together and do some of the stamping. We helped a little but let them be as creative as they wanted. The thing hanging off if it was a last minute creation. The girls were getting antsy waiting for everyone to arrive so I quickly put together the necklace. They each made one with their first initial on it. We let them do the stamping for this one.

This is a picture of all the projects. Whew!!! It was a busy afternoon. Yep, you counted right. There was 9 girls including the birthday girl. I could have used two of me that day. LOL

I have to mention that they were all 6 year olds. Things got a litte hairy but it all work out awesome in the end.

Love'n the Zutter

Hey all, well it has been a while since I have update this thingy. I have been busy, busy, busy with work, preparing for Becca's birthday and of course Scrap - a - Palooza. Ummmmm did you notice that there has been no time for scrapbook'n. :( Time seems to fly by.

Ok, soooooo the title of this post is Love'n the Zutter. I have recently added a new tool to my scraproom. It is the Zutter or Bind It All. It is the most amazing little tool. You can bind almost anything. There are a ton of different chipboard covers, canvas cover, pages, O wires and cover alls.

I used a Little Ones 8x8 Deja Views Tablet ( love these tablets - the have all the paper and embelishments you need to complete a project - there is no hunting and searching for the perfect emblishment) and a Zutter Cover all and of course an O wire.

Ok here is the project hope you like it.

Becca's Invite

My sister and I were hard at work this past Saturday creating the invitation for her daughter, Rebecca's, birthday party. Before we started we decided that we were going to make the flowerpot card but as the evening progressed we ended up with a whole lot of cupcakes.

It was kind of funny because we started out with only 2 cupcakes on the invitation, but it just didn't look right. So, I decided well how can you go wrong with MORE cup cakes. I mean who doesn't love cupcakes, right. In the end we ended up with 7 cupcakes on the top of the invitation. They look adorable. Then it occured to me to ask how many invitations we needed to make. Yeah, well, I guess we need 10. Which doesn't sound like a lot but if you put 7 cupcakes on the top of 10 invitations that is 70 CUPCAKES. Holy cow, that is a lot of cupcakes.

Becca loved the invitation and there is no changing it now. The things we do for love.
